Late Dr. Raghunandan Singh had steered the Centre for Public Policy, School of Social Sciences, Doon University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand as its NTPC Chair Professor. He was a former civil servant, having held the position of Chief Secretary and Chief Information Commissioner of Uttarakhand.
A son of mountains, Dr. Tolia belonged to the Munsiyari region of Pithoragarh and spent his post-retirement days in Munsiyari. The Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI) community suffered a great loss in 2016 with the passing away of its esteemed and visionary leader, elder, and guiding light. Dr. R.S. Tolia conceptualized the idea of IMI, got like-minded people onboard, and led it from the front as its founding President. His passion and commitment to improving the lives of mountain communities are what drove him.
Mr. Alemtemshi Jamir joined the Indian Administrative Sevice in 1977, and retired in January 2014 as Chief Secretary, Nagaland. He was the Team Leader of NEPED and is a strong proponent of jhum (shifting) cultivation. He oversaw the organizing of SMDS III held in Kohima in 2013.
He initiated the Hornbill festival of Nagaland that has become a global tourism event and also initiated and put into place the ‘North East Agri-Expo’ at Dimapur which has become a mega event in the North east for the agricultural activities including the pivot for transfer of Agricultural technology to the farmers of NE India.
Mr. Sushil Ramola is a co-founder and currently Chairman of B-ABLE (www.b-able.in). He is an active member of the board of several well-known NGOs. He is a chemical engineer and an IIM, Ahmedabad alumnus.
He is a social entrepreneur. He hails from Uttarakhand and founded an integrated rural tourism initiative Due North Eco ventures (www.duenorth.in) in his native village Saur which has become a role model in village rejuvenation through tourism, arts and crafts.
Prem Das Rai is a Politician from the Sikkim Democratic Front Party. He is the Former Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha). He was first elected in 2009 and re-elected in 2014. He is a former Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Commission, Govt. of Sikkim, and has also chaired the Sikkim Industrial Development and Investment Corporation.
Currently, he serves as SDF spokesperson and is active in politics.
He is interested in issues of sustainable mountain development, youth and entrepreneurship, sustainable tourism, water security in the Himalaya and Climate Change. He is passionate about and promotes Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, he loves the mountains and the Himalaya which receives his urgent attention at all times. He is a founding Governing Council member of the Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI). He also initiated the first GLOBE (Global Legislators’ Organisation for Balanced Environment) State Chapter of India in Sikkim which provides Legislators and Parliamentarians of the state a platform to deliberate on major global environmental challenges.
He has been awarded the Distinguished Fellow from both IIT Kanpur and IIM Ahmedabad where he received his educational degrees from.
He is an Eisenhower Fellow (2000).
Ramesh Negi has been a Member of Indian Administrative service 1984 batch of AGMUT Cadre. He brings with him vast administrative experience of working in diverse cultural and social environment of different Union Territories and States of Goa and Arunachal Pradesh.
Ramesh Negi held vital assignments in NCT of DELHI such as ADDITIONAL COMMISSONER MCD, MD Delhi Tourism, Chairman Delhi Transport Corporation, CEO Delhi Jal Board and Principal Secretary Urban Development.
As the Additional Commissioner MCD he is credited with reforms in SANITAION in MCD and effective implementation of solid waste management strategies. Privatisation of transportation of Municipal Solid Waste was one such big initiative resulting in revenue savings and timely lifting of Municipal Waste.
In Tourism sector he focussed on efficient utilisation of Tourism assets and established DELHI HAAT at PITAMPURA and JANAKPURI .These HAATS promote small craftsmen from Villages all over INDIA and provide affordable FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT to citizens and Tourists.
On taking up the assignment of Chairman DTC, Modernisation of DTC fleet was achieved to facilitate successful conduct of COMMONWEALTH GAMES.
In the Water Sector as the CEO of JAL Board, Ramesh Negi is credited with major reforms aimed at conservation of this scarce resource and adoption of latest MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS. Three areas in SOUTH AND WEST DELHI were assigned to leaders in the INTERNATIONAL Water Management Companies for operation and reduction of Water Loss in the system .Water Tariff was rationalised and revenue of DJB doubled in three years.
To reduce pollution in YAMUNA sewerage treatment standards were made stringent and Mega Project INTERCEPTOR SEWER SYSTEM was launched. Management of Water and Sewerage treatment plants was out sourced to leading International and Indian companies in this Sector.
In addition to URBAN SECTOR Sh. Ramesh Negi has held the position of Finance Secretary in Daman Diu, Dadara Nagar Haveli, State of Goa and Arunachal Pradesh. His co ordination skills and deft presentations before 14th Finance Commission secured ever highest award of Central Grants to the State of Arunachal Pradesh.
In the two years that he lead the administration of the state of Arunachal Pradesh as the Chief Secretary he laid special emphasis on development of Infrastructure in remote areas and conservation of rich Environmental and Cultural heritage of the state for future generations.
Sh. Negi has served as Chairperson of Delhi Child Rights Commission and presently he is the Chairperson of Supreme Court Monitoring committee on Homeless a d shelter less In NCT of Delhi.
