Late Dr. Raghunandan Singh had steered the Centre for Public Policy, School of Social Sciences, Doon University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand as its NTPC Chair Professor. He was a former civil servant, having held the position of Chief Secretary and Chief Information Commissioner of Uttarakhand.
A son of mountains, Dr. Tolia belonged to the Munsiyari region of Pithoragarh and spent his post-retirement days in Munsiyari. The Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI) community suffered a great loss in 2016 with the passing away of its esteemed and visionary leader, elder, and guiding light. Dr. R.S. Tolia conceptualized the idea of IMI, got like-minded people onboard, and led it from the front as its founding President. His passion and commitment to improving the lives of mountain communities are what drove him.
Mr. Alemtemshi Jamir joined the Indian Administrative Sevice in 1977, and retired in January 2014 as Chief Secretary, Nagaland. He was the Team Leader of NEPED and is a strong proponent of jhum (shifting) cultivation. He oversaw the organizing of SMDS III held in Kohima in 2013.
He initiated the Hornbill festival of Nagaland that has become a global tourism event and also initiated and put into place the ‘North East Agri-Expo’ at Dimapur which has become a mega event in the North east for the agricultural activities including the pivot for transfer of Agricultural technology to the farmers of NE India.
Mr. Sushil Ramola is a co-founder and currently Chairman of B-ABLE (www.b-able.in). He is an active member of the board of several well-known NGOs. He is a chemical engineer and an IIM, Ahmedabad alumnus.
He is a social entrepreneur. He hails from Uttarakhand and founded an integrated rural tourism initiative Due North Eco ventures (www.duenorth.in) in his native village Saur which has become a role model in village rejuvenation through tourism, arts and crafts.
